Your how-to guide before you start preparing your application to work with us.
Interview panels can vary in size depending on the role and requirements. They usually include the appointing manager, a representative from the human resources team and a representative from the TIASA or TEU union. Other panellists may also be invited. At the time of confirming the interview, you will be informed of who and how many people are on the interviewing panel.
You are welcome to bring whānau or a support person to the interview. Please advise the person who arranges the interview if you intend to do this. We do not cover travel or other related expenses for whānau or those attending in support of an applicant.
If you are required to give a presentation, the topic will be provided in advance and standard equipment, such as a computer and a projector, will be available.
It may be a requirement of the role that you undertake a medical examination, hearing/eye testing, psychometric testing, attitude/aptitude testing or computer testing. You will be advised of this at the time the interview is arranged.
You may be a sked to attend a second interview in order to meet wider members of the team. This will be a more informal interview, however, the team will have questions of their own they may wish to ask.
All applicants who were interviewed will be advised by phone of the outcome of their interview. This is usually within two weeks of the final interview.
We will not contact your referees without your consent. We may choose to undertake reference checks prior to or following the interview process. Please ensure any referees you supply are aware they may be contacted in this capacity.
As per our obligation under the Vulnerable Children Act and part of our recruitment process you may be required to complete a safety check if you will have regular or overnight contact with students that are under 18 years of age that takes place without the parent or guardian being present.
